Seriously?? how did it die? that is so sad... the kids must have been devastated... I was hoping to meet the little guy one day.... *pout*
It was shock from the temperature change
OUr front door blew open in the middle of the night and dropped the temperature of his cage by fifty degrees.
We were all devastated
however, derek too arrived safely, and after another $100 on equipment, has a much sturdier cage, with a heating pad, so the temperature is not so easily affected, also he has moved to the living room against an inside wall there fore protected somewhat against the draft.
He has doubled in size twice in the last month and is doing well
Oh that is good to hear (well not good, but good that you were able to learn from the situation).... that was what I was concerned about; well, not that specific situation happening (who'd think your door would blow open in the middle of the night) but just the temperature is very delicate for little critters like Derek; I know having been through raising those types of animals (iguanas, turtles both land and water etc)... we have had our turtles get pneumonia from erratic temperature changes; try dosing anti-biotics to a turtle... sheesh...
anyways glad to hear the new guy is doing well....
